Hello, My Name Is...


 

Welcome to my teacher page, students and families!
My name is Ms. Anderson and I am very excited to be teaching your child(ren) this year! I am an educator in the Department of Exceptional Students here at Adamson Middle School. I will be teaching English/Language Arts in grades 6 & 7, in both co-teaching and small group/resource settings. Students in my classroom are held to the expectations outlined in the Georgia Standards of Excellence for content curriculum while receiving appropriate individual accommodations. I believe that ALL students can learn and they enter the classroom with their own set of abilities and attributes. I am merely a catalyst to assist them in operating within their full potential. I also believe that "it takes a village..." and I look forward to working in a collaborative fashion with you in the future!

A Few Things About Me:

-I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Go Steelers !)

-I moved to Lithonia, Georgia as a pre-teen, and was a graduate of Redan High School (DeKalb County).

-I love reading!! (any genre, especially mysteries)

-I love watching documentaries, comedies, and historical programming.

-I am a proud product of the Clayton County TAPP program. 

-I am also a CCPS Certified Teacher Mentor.

-I was the 2018-2019 "Teacher of the Year" at Adamson Middle School.

Education:
           Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S)/Special Education-Walden University.
                  Master of Science Education /Special Education (MSEd)- Walden University.
      Bachelor of Science/Psychology(BSc./Psych) -Georgia State University.
Associate of Science/Psychology (AS)-Atlanta Metropolitan College.

Certifications:
-Special Education General Curriculum (P-12).
-I am also "Highly Qualified" on the professional level for each of the following areas (in P-8) :
English,
Mathematics,
Science,
Social Studies
Reading

-In addition to being an educator, I am also a Case Manager (I will be contacting you if your student is on my caseload).

Classroom Behavior
It is the expectation of Clayton County Public Schools, Adamson Middle School, and Ms. Anderson that students will come to school with a positive attitude and enthusiasm about learning! Classroom rules and procedures will be delivered on day one of class and rehearsed frequently to ensure that each student knows what is expected of them at all times. Students will also follow all rules, policies, and procedures outlined in their Clayton County Student Handbook and "BE GREAT" Behavior Matrix.

                                                                                   
                                                                                  Course Evaluation Categories:

Academic achievement, effort, and academic behavior (following directions and procedures for completion) will be factored into grades.  Categories of grades students will receive include classwork (45%), tests (15%), quizzes (15%) and projects (15%), and homework (10%).

100% - 90% A


89% - 80% B


79% - 70% C


69% - 60% D

59% - Below  F




Classroom Discipline Policy

*Failure to follow the guidelines and procedures of the classroom will result in:
 -A verbal warning

 -Loss of privilege (silent lunch)

-Detention

-Parent contact

-Parent conference

-Office referral

              **Each offense will be documented on each students discipline framework**
                         **Parents may be called or emailed for each offense**
