School Parent & Family Engagement Plan for Shared Student Achievement

What is it?

This is a plan that describes how Adamson Middle School will provide opportunities to improve parent & family engagement to support student learning. Adamson Middle School values the contributions and involvement of parents & families in order to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This plan describes the different ways that Adamson Middle will support parent & family engagement and how parents & families can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home.  Parents & families are encouraged to actively participate in their child’s education by volunteering in their child’s classroom as well as, attending academically based workshops.  Adamson Middle School welcomes parent & family input at all times of the school year via face-to-face contact, input meetings, comment cards, phone calls, and emails.

How is it revised?

Adamson Middle School invited all parents & families to attend a series of Title I meetings in the fall of 2018 to review and revise this parent & family engagement policy/plan, our school-parent compacts and the 1% parent & family engagement budget.  Additionally, parent & family input and comments regarding this plan are welcome during the school year in our comment box located outside of the front office, emails and phone calls to school administrators and the Title I parent liaison.  The plan is posted on our school website for parents & families to view and submit feedback throughout the year. All parent & family feedback received during the year will be used to revise the plan for the next school year.  We also distributed an annual survey online, by email, and a paper copy sent home with each student, to ask parents & families for their suggestions on the plan and the use of funds for parent & family engagement.  Adamson Middle School also welcomes parent & family input to provide feedback at meetings and activities throughout the year.

Who is it for?

All students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, are encouraged and invited to fully participate in the opportunities described in this plan. Adamson Middle School will provide full opportunity for the participation of parents & families with limited English, parents & families with disabilities, parents & families of ESOL students, homeless families, and parents & families of migratory children and parents & families of other programs to the extent feasible and appropriate.

Where is it available?

At the beginning of the year, the policy is included in the packet of Title I documents that are sent home with each student.  The document is emailed to parents & families as well as, posted on the school’s website, http://019.clayton.k12.ga.us.  Parents can also retrieve a copy of the policy in the Parent & Family Resource Center at any time.
